The Borochov family follows its tradition of Bukharan Jewish sacred music, applying their wide musicality, Jazz virtuosity and avant-garde, multi-ethnic thinking.

The father Yisrael Borochov - a pioneer of world music genre. founder of East-West Ensemble and CEO at the nonprofit East-West House; The son Itamar - NYC based, world touring jazz trumpet player; And the son Avri - Jaffa based multi talented bass player and producer. The three unite into a global local family supergroup.

The tradition uses odd time signatures to prevent drumming in the holy Shabbat - in contrast, this inspired the Borochovs to the most cutting-edge arrangements. Here, the cry of the Bukharan prayer is treated as a jazz solo. Tribal singing in ancient Maqom scales, kept in its pre-muslim-empire authenticity only by segregated communities, is sung in history preserving precision, while igniting new approach to harmony and synthesis.
